An unprecedented number of craftsmen and artists were employed for the construction of the Parthenon. The temple and its sculptural decoration were completed in fifteen years between 447 and 432 BC, based on the architectural plans of Iktinos and Kallikrates. Pheidias, the exceptionally gifted sculptor and personal friend of thw political leader o Athens, Perikles, supervised and coordinated the building program. The reconstruction of the Parthenon featured here is inspired by the drawings of Anastasios Orlandos, one of the most significant researchers of Greek architecture, published in his book "The Architecture of the Parthenon" (1977).
