Exact replica of the head of the “Peplos Kore” made on a scale 1:1. The original (Acr. 679) displayed in the Archaic Acropolis Gallery belongs to one of the most famous statues of the Acropolis that receives its name from the dress she wears, the peplos. Her wavy hair frames her youthful face and is held at the back, with a ribbon. The red color of the hair visible today is an undercoat over which the final brown color was applied. The small holes visible on her hair were the receptacles for metal jewelry - lotus rays or flowers, and those on her ears, were for earrings. Many believe that the "Peplos Kore" was different from the many other Korai on the Acropolis. It is thought she may be Artemis, the goddess of hunting and that she would have originally held a bow and arrow in her hands, now lost.
