A work of 480-470 BC, the head belonged to the sculpture of a youth, most likely an athlete. This masterpiece sculpture from which the replica is cast is known by his contemporary name, the Blonde Boy, because when he was found on the Acropolis, he retained traces of golden yellow color on his impressively styled hair. His grave, almost melancholic expression conveys the new perspective that dominated Greek art during the so-called Severe Period. This style developed after the destruction of Athens by the Persians in 480 BC. The Head of the Blonde Boy is produced exclusively by the Conservation Workshops of the Acropolis Museum for the Acropolis Museum Shops. Both the materials used and our conservators' skilled craftsmanship ensure the copy's accuracy and high quality.
