The east frieze of the Parthenon depicts the arrival of the procession of the Athenians at the Panathenaic celebrations at the Acropolis, which honored their patron goddess Athena. The head of Iris, the gods' winged messenger, is the only authentic part of Block V of the frieze housed in the Acropolis Museum. The head is attached to a copy of the surviving original block, while the original block is in the British Museum in London. The complete scene shows Iris arranging her hair with her left hand and correcting her dress's folds with her right. She stands in front of Hera and Zeus, the divine couple, who seated, welcome the procession and the other Olympian Gods. The original fragment that is displayed in the Acropolis Museum has been reproduced in its real size in this elegant replica. Produced exclusively for and by the Museum, the Museum's Conservation Workshops use materials and techniques that assure the most exact copy of the highest quality.
