This is a precise copy of a small figurine depicting the goddess Athena as Promachos, meaning first in battle, and one of the many archetypes of the goddess of the Acropolis. The original dates to around 500-490 BC. Armed and threatening, she appears ready to strike her opponent with the spear she once held in her raised hand. She wears a helmet with an impressive plume and has her aegis, a kind of leather protective cloak with snake shapes on the fringe, thrown over her shoulders.
