Among the hundreds of ancient offerings recovered at the sanctuary of Nymphe on the southern slope of the Acropolis were various tiny kitchen wares, miniature replicas of those used in Athenian households. Amongst those this small hydria or water jug. The hydria had three handles, two horizontal and one vertical, which helped lift and empty their contents. This miniature is decorated with the black-figure technique in which dark forms are painted on the clay's reddish color. It dates to 575-565 BC, and the original can be seen in display case 6 of the Museum’s gallery of the Acropolis Slopes
