This ceramic plate depicting a battle scene is a copy of a late sixth-century original. The holes at the top of the original plate, replicated in this copy, make it suitable as a wall decoration. Available in a gift box.

Clay plates decorated with animals and mythical beings, gods, heroes, warriors and athletes are among the many tributes that were found in archaeological excavations at the sanctuary of Nymphe, the protectress of Marriage, located on the southern slope of the Acropolis. The plate is decorated with a battle scene: an equestrian warrior attacks a hoplite that is running away. Behind them, the two other hoplites are fighting, with one fallen to the ground. The small holes on the lip of the original plate enabled it to be hung on a wall or elsewhere. It dates to the end of the 6th century BC and can be seen on the ground floor of the Museum in display case 6 of the gallery of the Acropolis Slopes.
