This silver-plated tray with an engraved edge features an Eros or cupid in relief at the center. Classically simple, it is an ideal special event gift. It comes to you in a gift box and is also available in a larger size.

Eros, the winged son of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and marriage, is often presented in wedding scenes depicted in ancient Greek art. This particular Eros on a fragment survives from a loutrophoros, a vessel used by the ancient Athenians to carry water for a bride and grooms’ ritual pre-wedding bath. The scene shows a young bride receiving gifts from relatives and friends the day after her wedding while the Eros flutters above, holding a branch. You can see the original in display case 5 of the gallery of the Acropolis Slopes on the ground floor of the Museum.
