The text of this inscription reveals a wealth of information on ancient technology and the management of a public construction project of 5th century Athens. The inscribed stele details the occupational groups and the composition of the workforce, the project’s financial management, the manner in which payments were made and the level of the payments received by those working on the project of the Erechtheion for the years 408/407 BC. The stele with the inscription would have stood in a public place on the Acropolis so that it was publicly accessible.
