This silver-plated tray with an engraved edge features an Eros or cupid at the center inspired by that seen on a ceramic fragment of an early fifth-century loutrophoros. This elegant tray is an ideal special event gift. It comes to you in a gift box and is also available in a larger size.

Eros, the small, winged son of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and marriage, is often included in wedding scenes depicted in ancient Greek art. This fragment survives from a loutrophoros, a vessel used to carry water for the bride and groom's ritual pre-wedding bath. The scene on the fragment shows a young bride receiving gifts from relatives and friends while Eros flutters above her head. You can see the original in display case 5 of the Museum’s gallery of the Acropolis Slopes.
