This hand-woven loom bag features motifs from the originally colorful clothing of the statue of a young woman known as the Chios Kore. The outer cover is 100% wool with a cotton inner lining with a small internal pocket, red zip closure and a red leather tassel. The colors, the high quality of the materials, and the leather detailing result in a quality product produced using a traditional method.

The Korai were marble statues of young girls dedicated to the Sanctuary of the Goddess Athena on the Acropolis by wealthy Athenians. Petite and elegant in her vividly colored clothes with their intricate motifs, the Chios Kore is one of the most charming korai of the Acropolis. Like most of these statues, she would have held an offering to the goddess in one hand, while with the other, she would have pulled her dress to the side to facilitate her walking. She wears a wreath on her head with metal rays on the top, colored earrings and two necklaces, one of which is sculpted in relief and the other painted on her.
