At the top of the sacred rock of the Acropolis, the Athenians of the 5th century BC built the Parthenon, the most famous temple in ancient Greece for the goddess Athena. The goddess' sacred bird and symbol was the owl, the vigilant bird with the exceptional vision that even today nests in the crevices of the Sacred Rock and nearby hills. If you go up to the Acropolis, you can admire the famous temple and then visit the Museum and see the masterpiece sculptures that adorned it.
